Noveling

I have to say that my basic grasp of this novel I’m writing is something like:

WHO IS THIS FINN PERSON AND WHY IS HE HERE I DON’T UNDERSTAND

WHY ARE YOU NARRATING MY NOVEL GO AWAY

HANG ON A SECOND WAIT WHAT

Also, I’m doing a little bit of editing and have discovered that I (apparently subconsciously) made all of my characters have a bordering-unhealthy obsession with hot chocolate. I think my subconscious was trying to tell me something.

  1. Okay, so this is going to sound really creepy, because you don’t know me, but we share a Laura. Also, your writing makes me cry (and I mean that in the best possible way–it’s a compliment!). And I’m kind of half-way in love with you. And I kind of hate you at the same time, because you’re in the process of stealing my Laura, and I’m afraid that you are so much better than I am, so she’s going to like you better. Plus, right now, you’re kind of a fairytale, less concrete than I am, which makes you better and worse all at the same time. You’re just real enough to be a threat. She claims she loves both of us equally, but my mother said that for years, and I’m clearly her favorite. I have trust issues. Anyway, this was supposed to be just kind of a ‘hello, i exist, too!’ kind of thing. i also have objections to capitalization (have you ever read paper towns by john green? you should) and my characters from nanowrimo (actually, most of them) are unhealthily obsessed with hot chocolate. just thought i’d say hi! 🙂

    1. ohmygosh it’s a wild tiffany/tessa HI. We are united by our shared Laura. My writing makes you cry? This is…alarming. But good. And encouraging. I have heard wonderful things about you and please don’t hate me, because I feel the same way – like you have this huge advantage of being actually there. I don’t even know. capital objection solidarity. i haven’t read that, no, but have you ever read “will grayson, will grayson” by john green and david leviathan? you totally should. you’re a NaNo-er? this makes me smile. also, hot chocolate joy.

      1. iuwget IRGoher9u yoierjg8oih oieu oij[98g ujwoit h9[8h!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! sorry, this is just really awesome for me, because Laura and i are sitting on her bed obsessing about you, which sounds really weird, but please don’t be freaked out! 🙂 (it’s because of your awesome writing.) i am currently freaking out because of the amazing-ness of technology that allows my best friend to find someone so much like us over such a vast distance, and then allows me to connect in the same way, and oh, my gosh, this is one of those times when i love people, even if only because of their inventions 😀

      2. Thank you so much! (by the way, just read Creating Magic on your blog. LOVED it. A LOT.) Technology is awesome, and I think it’s amazing that I can communicate with people who live so far away. “This is one of those times when I love people” – This made me laugh. My default is not to love people, so I often say “this is one of those times where people are awesome” or something to that effect.
